Supporting Indigenous Sharing Network – Community Engagement & Partnership Coordinator Update, Spring 2019

created: Jun 7, 2019

Looking forward in this work…
We are reminded first and foremost of those that carry the wisdom, knowledge, values and experience: the ancestors, the Traditional Knowledge Keepers, Spiritual Leaders and Elders, the teachings, ceremonies, & songs embedded within the life ways of the original inhabitants of Moh’ kins’ tsis. We are reminded of the future generations, the brothers and sisters that need the most support, understanding and love. We are reminded of those that have worked courageously and relentlessly in community, and continue to strive for balance,
unity and sustainable relations.
Begin within yourself.
With Love & Respect, Niitsiikohtaahsi’ taki (I am grateful)

Grassroots Gathering VI (click here..) was held on April 29, 2019 to re-engage community and revisit timelines, goals and activities set out in October 2018 for the Community Plan (see more..). Feel free to download this digital version. It will be available in hard copy for distribution soon.
We saw some of those that participated in the past Grassroots Gatherings, as well as new faces and agencies. Moving forward with community priorities, each of the six Circles (strategic areas of community focus) will maintain monthly meetings, host/co-host bi-monthly Gatherings, and continue to share information and update activities on the Supporting Indigenous Sharing Network website to putting the Community Plan into Reconcili”action”. It is hoped by December 2020 we will reconvene again to examine what Reconcili”Actions” have occurred during the 2 years in Calgary, and make recommendation for the continuation or revision of the plan taking us to 2022.

If you are interested in attending a Circle meeting, or you would like more information, please email jacie-alook@ncsa.ca. Feedback is always welcomed!
If you haven’t already, feel free to submit your organization’s Contact Information in the Directory Click -> HERE.
Calgary Indigenous Sharing Network updates regularly with community information & events that you submit through the website. You can share an ‘Event’ or a ‘Post’ by clicking HERE. Happy Trails & Keep Sharing!
