The Alberta FILU helps families:

  • navigate the justice system and legal processes.
  • gather case specific information about police investigations, court proceedings, medical examiners’ investigations, or inquests; and
  • connect with Elders, Indigenous knowledge keepers, healers and/or mainstream trauma counseling and supports

Alberta’s Family Information Liaison Unit is committed to connecting families with the information needed to navigate the justice system and legal processes, as well as counseling and other supports, to help manage the grief and loss of having a missing or murdered loved one.
