The Alberta Joint Working Group on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (Alberta Joint Working Group) is honoured that you are sharing with us through this survey. This survey will help the Alberta Joint Working Group to understand the priorities of family, survivors and allies of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in addressing violence and potential solutions that will improve safety, security and wellbeing for Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. 2SLGBTQQIA+ includes Two-spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual people.

The goal of the SURVEY is to include the voices of MMIWG2S+ families, survivors and allies who did not participate in the National Inquiry engagement process in Alberta. If you were involved in the National Inquiry process and have further reflections, we would still like include your voice. The survey will close for comments on MAY 17, 2021.

The survey is built off information gathered in a province-wide engagement led by the Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women (IAAW) and the Awo Taan Healing Lodge Society. IAAW and Awo Taan engaged families of MMIWG on identified priority actions for a National Action Plan to address violence against Indigenous women and girls from March – October 2020. This is the next step in the sharing process.
