Residential Support Supervisor – Calgary, AB

As Calgary’s premier affordable seniors housing and support services provider, our client has been serving lower-income Calgarians from all walks of life for over 50 years. As a member of the Support Services team and reporting to the Support Services Manager this role has accountability for direct supervision of Resident Support Coordinators. Working closely with the Placement Supervisor and Community Managers this position also assists residents to enhance their well-being by providing information, individual support, access and referral to services and programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Service:
• Provides support to residents and their families in the transition process for residents arriving, during orientation, transferring between communities and transferring outside of the organization.
• Reviews any complex referral cases and alerts the Support Services Manager or designate, to any serious concerns involving residents.
• Reviews and prioritizes referrals, balances staff caseloads and manages the Resident Support Program process.
• Advises the Support Services Manager about any workflow challenges or improvement opportunities.
• Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on client outcomes
• Coordinates the gathering of monthly statistics and completes an initial analysis
• Audition of files to ensure they are kept as per agency standards.
• Brings forward process improvements and recommendations to the Manager of Support Services.
• Establishing and maintaining working relationships with community agencies
• Prepares and delivers presentations regarding Resident Support Program within the organization and other organizations within Calgary to promote the organization to potential residents or partners.

Staffing:
• Supervises, motivates and monitors staff to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures and standards.
• In conjunction with the Support Services Manager, interviews, hires and trains/onboard new staff.
• Organizes monthly team meetings and facilitates case consultation
• Supports professional development by advising Support Services Manager of identified training needs and providing information essential for best practices
Qualifications and Competencies
• Degree or diploma in Social Work and registration with ACSW or eligibility to obtain
• Leadership skills within a fast-paced self-managed team environment.
• Experience in team building and motivating staff
• Experience working with older adults, their families and the integration of services
• Case management experience, including complex cases
• Solid understanding of older adult needs and challenges including community services and resources available to older adults in Calgary including Federal and Provincial pensions and benefits
• Team work philosophy of collaboration and cooperation is required as it is necessary to coordinate the involvement of other colleagues on the team and throughout the agency.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and use of own vehicle is required.

MUST HAVE:
• Ability to work within different environments, with the flexibility and physical capability to travel around the city to the organization’s communities for meetings with residents and related events.
• Flexibility and ability to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines; on occasion work under somewhat stressful situations.
