Grassroots Gathering VI @ Calgary Marlborough Community Association

Indigenous-focused initiatives & community driven plan for our City | Co-hosted with Human Rights & Discrimination Circle|

Monday, April 29, 2019

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Calgary Marlborough Community Association

In recent years, “Calgary’s indigenous community came together as ‘One Heart, One Mind, One Spirit’ to implement a plan of reconcili”ACTION” within Calgary” that aligned with community needs, the Truth & Reconciliation Calls To Action, & UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples).

The priority areas developed with the community from previous Grassroots Gatherings I-V are:

Human Rights & Discrimination

Justice

Elders & Youth

Culture & Language

Careers & Resources

Healing & Resiliency

As we reinvigorate new energy into the actions and activities for each Circle, we will re-align the goals that Community Members, Elders, Youth, representatives from organizations & serving-agencies had developed for the Calgary Indigenous Sharing Network, Community Report 2018.

“We need to ensure that our work is making change for those that need our services, for those that need our support, for those that need connection, and for those that want to come together for community”.

Light Breakfast & Lunch provided. Please contact Community Engagement & Partnership Coordinator if you have any questions, or for more details.

With kindness & friendship,
