3rd Annual Nitsis’skoowaaniksi: Unity in Services @ Multi-Purpose Building, Standoff, Alberta

This letter serves as invitation for your organizations participation in the 3rd Annual Nitsis’skoowaaniksi: Unity in Services. The event will take place on November 30, 2018, from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Multi-Purpose Building in Standoff, Blood Tribe. Lunch will be provided to all organizational representatives, volunteers, and guests.

This event was influenced by the City of Lethbridges’ Project Connect in November 2016. It has been carried out in a similar fashion; therefore, within a trade-fair setting, where a collection of free services is offered and a range of community resources are available to access. This event began as initiative to increase community collaborations between the Blood Tribe and City of Lethbridge. This year, it is being organized and hosted by the Indigenous Recovery Team and Chelsea DeGroot, I’taamohkanoohsin Program Manager, with Lethbridge ARCHES. To be successful, Nitsis’skoowaaniksi requires information booths from both communities to serve the primary purpose of establishing connections to resources. Additionally, service providers are required for the set of free services that include: haircuts, foot care, photo booth, tax service, legal guidance, and massage therapy. Presently, in both communities, there has been an increase in homelessness and poverty resulting from addiction(s). As an experienced Project Connect volunteer and Indigenous Recovery Coach, this event has been successful in addressing these issues with awareness, community collaboration and connection.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. We hope that your organization will be able to join us on this day; please RSVP by email as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Respectfully yours,
