Advancing Reconciliation webinar - August 9 @ Virtual Zoom webinar

The Calgary Indigenous Human Rights Circle would like to invite you to a free webinar on Sunday August 9, 2020.

In 2019, The Circle received funding through the Government of Alberta’s Anti-Racism Grant program and over the last year has facilitated a number of conversations addressing both personal and organizational aspects of racism and discrimination towards Indigenous peoples.  Many participants indicated that they wanted learn how they and their and organization could advance and improve inclusive and barrier-free environments for Indigenous people.

As a next step, the Circle will be hosting a live free webinar on August 9th to commemorate the International Day of the Indigenous World’s Peoples (see attached poster).  This webinar will explore what Canadians have done to respond to important reports in the last decade (including the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action report) and what concrete actions can be taken by individuals, organizations and governments.

A diverse Indigenous panel will explore issues of modern day racism and provide practical recommendations to implement anti-racist practices in personal, professional and organizational settings.

Panelist include:

Chief Wilton Littlechild,  Lawyer and TRC Commissioner

Samuel Crowfoot, Lawyer and Siksika Nation Councillor

Larissa Crawford, Future Ancestor Services Founder

This webinar is intended for Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders, educators, change makers and allies.  Attendees will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions related to topics of discussion.
