The Anti-Racism Secretariat (the Secretariat), housed in Alberta Education, supports anti-racism initiatives across the Government of Alberta (GOA) and across the province. The Secretariat is a new work unit that has been established to tackle issues and challenges related to racism, identify and develop opportunities and implement approaches to addressing racism in Alberta. The Secretariat will focus their efforts on supporting the implementation across Government of the Taking Action Against Racism report, released in June 2018. If you are passionate about building an inclusive society in Aberta and are committed to anti-racism, diversity and inclusion, and enjoy working with others to creatively solve problems and lay the ground work for change, this is the job for you. As the Anti-Racism Analyst, you will be part of a team planning and developing policies and programs to promote anti-racism, diversity and inclusion in Alberta. This role involves supporting all aspects of the work of the Secretariat, including administration of the Alberta Anti-Racism Advisory Council (AARAC) and initiatives, including cross-ministry initiatives, identified in the Taking Action Against Racism report. This position performs research and analysis, both qualitative and quantitative, of information, data, legislation and regulations as well as the preparation and provision of information and recommendations. The Anti-Racism Analyst identifies issues, analyzes relevant information, supports environmental scanning exercises, initiates and coordinates survey responses, and provides value-added information in a timely manner. The Anti-Racism Analyst will also provide information, facilitation and coordination of supports to a diverse stakeholder group, both internal and external to Government, and will be in regular contact with those stakeholders, as well as providing some administrative supports to the Secretariat and the Advisory Council. |
Qualifications |
A university degree in a related field, such as social sciences, Aboriginal Studies, Womens Studies, or Political Science. Specialized knowledge, education or experience related to anti-racism issues, challenges or solutions. Participation (current or previous) in an ethno-cultural community organization(s) in Alberta and an understanding of the isues and challenges impacting marginalized communities in general is also an asset. Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Equivalencies will be considered on a one year of experience for one year of education basis. |

Salary |
$2,259.36 to $2,963.75 bi-weekly ($58,969 to $77,353 annually). |
